Circular economy in Scottish regions worth £1bn

Scottish Government-funded circular economy organisation Zero Waste Scotland has revealed in two reports that the regions of Tayside, which includes Dundee and Perth, and Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire could see a combined £1-billion (€1.14 billion) boost to their economies if they adopt circular economy business practices.

Tayside could see a £400-million (€455 million) boost while Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire could see a £625-million (€711 million) increase in economic value.

The reports, produced in partnership with local Chambers of Commerce, were launched by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon at the Circular Economy Hotspot 2018, an annual gathering of international experts in the circular economy, held in Glasgow on 31 October.
