The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) will be devoting a week in March 2021 to highlighting the environmental damages caused by food waste.
Food Waste Action Week will run from Monday 1 to Sunday 7 March 2021, and will involve a range of organisations including retailers, local authorities, restaurants, manufacturers and more.
Wasted food contributes 8-10 per cent of total man-made greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and around one third of food produced around the world is wasted. WRAP has been working on reducing the amount of food wasted in the UK for several years. It started the Courtauld Commitment in 2005 and Love Food Hate Waste in 2007.
