Today (8 October) brings the launch of the Earthshot Prize, a esteemed global environment prize, motivating worldwide change with a goal of improving life for people and nature throughout the world by 2030.
The Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP) has been working with The Royal Foundation to create the Earthshot Prize. The project aims to ‘turn pessimism surrounding environmental issues into optimism, highlighting the ability of human ingenuity to bring about change’.
The award is inspired by John F. Kennedy’s Moonshot, the mission to unite millions of people to win the space race and put man on the moon in the 1960s. The prize revolves around five ‘Earthshots’: protect and restore nature, clean the air, revive the oceans, build a waste-free world and fix the climate.
