Coronavirus grant awarded to aid Scottish waste management firms

Environmental organisation Zero Waste Scotland and the Scottish Government have awarded more than £820,000 to the waste management industry to help reduce disruptions caused by Coronavirus restrictions.

The money will be put towards both upgrading infrastructure to improve its environmental performance and enforcing measures to prevent the virus spreading between staff members.

After the funding was announced in August, 40 businesses, covering 105 sites, were awarded with grants to put towards improving storage bays, welfare and office cabins, traffic management systems and signage, as well as new equipment and machinery.
