FareShare and KFC launch food redistribution partnership

A national network of charitable food redistributors, FareShare, and KFC (UK and Ireland) have launched a food redistribution partnership. The goal is delivering surplus food from KFC restaurants to people in need whilst simultaneously preventing food waste.

Delivering ‘the equivalent of more than four million meals across the year to local people in need’ is the goal of the programme, says Fareshare. Within the programmes 2022 rollout 1,000 restaurants are expected to take part, creating a forecast that has predicted ‘12 million meals’ to be redistributed in a full year.

20 KFC outlets in the Midlands, the North East and Essex took part in the initiatives successful pilot scheme, which lasted eight-months and saw the partnership distribute more than 27,500 meals to over 22 local community groups, via FareShare Go.
