Sheffield Council and Veolia have together announced the commencement of the city’s first food waste collection trial, set for the end of August.
Today, Sheffield Council and Veolia have announced a partnership to launch trial food waste collection service across for areas of the English city.
Commencing at the end of August for 12 weeks, 8,200 households in areas including Meersbrook, Woodseats, Burnross, and Ecclesfield will see weekly food waste collections services alongside their usual recycling.
Outside food waste bins, five-litre kitchen caddies, and rolls of 52 biodegradable liner bags will be distributed to participating households. When collected, food waste can first be housed in the kitchen caddies before being transferred into the larger outside boxes ready for servicing.
