Green Alliance: Landfill ban in 2025 would reduce methane emissions by 19 per cent

A new report by Green Alliance has claimed that banning biodegradable waste from landfills by 2025 is the key to meeting the methane gas reduction targets set at last year’s COP. The environmental charity and think tank said in its report ‘The Global Methane Pledge: How the UK can meet its commitment’ that there are still options for the Government to reach its target of reducing emissions by 30 per cent by 2030.

So far it notes that there has been ‘little headway’ and that, if the Government follows its practical suggestions, emissions could be reduced by as much as 43 per cent.
